The Benchmade Proper 318-319 is the first ever slipjoint made by Benchmade. You open this gentleman's knife with two hands and it doesn't have a lock: a slipjoint. Ideal as a stylish gentleman's knife that won't scare anyone. Think of peeling an apple or cutting a nice juicy steak. In addition, a slipjoint can legally be carried in many places in Europe.
The blade has a classic design. The contours in no way resemble the rest of the modern Benchmade range. The droppoint-sheepsfoot combo that you see here is unique. The spine is somewhat slanted. An extra luxurious touch. The blade is made from CPM S30V steel. A modern type of powdered steel, specifically designed for high-end pocket knives. Within this category of slipjoints you won't find a lot of pocket knives enhanced with such a great type of steel. In addition, many enthusiasts will appreciate that Benchmade gave the Proper a stop-pin that prevents the spring from closing. A thorn in the face of many simple slip joints has been eliminated.
The handle is made from canvas micarta. It offers enough grip and is wear and tear resistant. The nice thing about this "rough" micarta is that it will naturally form its own 'Patina' It gets darker the more often you use the knife. Not a fan of the dark colour anymore? Simply degrease it with some petrol and the micarta will be almost as good as new again.
